I found out a long time ago, that if you taped the threads too far toward the end, strands would get between the seats and washers. It was pointed out to me that if you were careful, it wouldn't be a problem. In a shipyard, the training time would be too much to bear. The paste type thread sealants "are" a safer bet as far as problems with bits and pieces of Teflon getting into valves. Regards, Terry

Howard,
I can imagine why they would get fired! I found out a long time ago, that if you taped the threads too far toward the end, strands would get between the seats and washers.
