Teflon Tape

Terry, Just a stupid question for which no one seems to have the answer.... When wrapping threaded pipe with Teflon Tape...How much? I usually go around 2 times at the start and overlap 1/2 the tapes width the rest of the way down. I have noticed others doing it in other ways...Like one wrap at the start and thats it ! And others that wrap it around 3 or more times... Is there a BEST way? I also make it as tight as I can but have seen loose wraps while others do it. When ever I ask whats the correct way...No one seems to know anything except the way THEY do it. Scary ! Thanks again for your input. Rick
