: sorry to keep bothering you....but....
: i have a basement bath that is in the rough-in stage.
: my plumber states that the toilet has been vented as a "wet vent" - perhaps
: to the main vent/stack. i have seen a comment on this web site that
: suggests NOT to vent a basement toilet thru the main
: vent/stack. What are you thoughts Terry (and others)?
: i have a washer and 2 sinks in this basement with vents
: as well. Looks like they all run to the main stack/vent.
: thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Is there a lavatory located near the toilet? Perhaps this is what your plumber is referring to.
A typical wet vent uses the toilet vent as the drain line for the lavatory. As long as the wet vented section of pipe is vertical (45 degrees is considered vertical also) and is at least two inches in diameter it is normal practice.
If the toilet line goes straight to the stack, that is fine also. Remember that a toilet works on the principle of siphonage.
