Allen:--Some water heaters last for twenty years, but they are the exception ..not the rule. A 15 year old water heater that has started to drip, is trying to tell you something...like good bye. Take the time you have left (before the heater breathes its' last) to find a replacement heater. To set the stage for a twenty year stay in your house hold with the new water heater...Plan to drain the accumulation of debris from the tank bottom on a regular basis, and set the temperture at no higher than 135 degrees F...see you in 2020 Bud. My gas water heater is probably about 10-15 yrs. old
