: P.:--The installation of backflow prevention valves by most municipalities has caused a minor problem for homeowners. When the water is heated in your tank, it expands slightly and will trip the T&P valve, causing a small discharge of water. By installing a thermal expansion tank in the cold water supply to the tank, your problem will cease to be a problem..Happy New Year.. Bud
