Peter: If you have a pedestle type sump pump, there may be room in the sump for a redundent pump installation. If the first one fails, the second one will take over. If the second pump is wired properly, it can be made to ring a bell or flash a light indicating the number one pump has some how been compromised. This will give you an extra measure of protection against flooding. Lots of luck.......Bud
: The reason I am asking this question is that I want to prevent basement flooding by replacing the sump pump before it fails. : Thank you.
