In response to Re: How do I clean up after sewage backup?
: My sewage backed up in the basement saturating the carpet and the layer of plywood sandwiched between two layers of lan. tile flooring.(Hahaha!)
: I have already spent 2 days shoveling and and vacuuming and have reached the damp, porous concrete.
: I tried to mop it but the surface is too rough.
: Another note: I RENT this place and can't afford to have a professional cleaner come in.

Unless you and your landlord have some sort of special
agreement about who is responsible for maintainence and upkeep of the property, the
landlord (owner) of your place is responsible for maintaining the plumbing in good working order.
If the owner was negligent in maintaining the plumbing and this is what caused the backup, then I
would propose that he is responsible for the clean up and cost of any repairs.
