Since Rheem, Ruud, GE, and Richmond are made by one company,and Maytag, State, and Reliance by another, there is not a great deal of difference in units. They all use the same thermostats, so the only variation is in the tank itself. If you want to check for differences, look at the efficiency lable for total energy usage. This is an indicator of the insulation for the heater. The lower the energy usage the better, but I have yet to find any heater that even approaches the lower number on the tags. : Can anyone help me with information on the reliability : of different gas water heaters? What are the best : brands, what brands should be avoided? Any good advice : would be appreciated!
