|In response to Re: Fiberglass tub & surround|
: I have just received a 2piece fiberglasas tub & surround. The unit comes frammed together and is also joined behind the unit at a lip thatsurrounds the tub & surround. I have several questions.
: 1) Is it possible to install the unit together joining them at the lip that runs behind the unit? Or, should I not worry and just secure them by the exposed perimeter lip to the studs.
It does need to be joined together, using the bolts that came with it, (It did come with bolts didn't it? )
: 2) What is the best way to cut the holes in the fiberglass for the faucet and control.
A hole saw does a nice job.
: 3)I was told that some kind of mud should be put beneath the tub. What kind and what is this for????
For a better job, supporting the underside is a good idea. Less flex means longer life.
: 4) should I use a sealant between the tub & surround??
: 5) Any other tips would be appreciated.
