National plumbing code - installation of whirlpool tubs

It is my understanding that whirlpool bathtubs need to be "set" in mortar, plaster, concrete, or the like in order to be adequately supported and installed properly.

Is there anything in the national plumbing code requiring that an acrylic whirlpool tub be "set" in mortar, plaster, concrete, or some mixture of the aforementioned items? Also, is there anything in the national plumbing code requiring additional bathtub support such as wood framing for an alcove acrylic bathtub installation?

If so, please give a source reference and web address. If not, please give a source reference and web address for the national plumbing code and/or the proper installation of acrylic whirlpool tubs.
