When we purchased our house, it had a finished basement. However, we soon found out that the basement sewer drain was in the middle of the room under the finished floor covered with carpet. It has a tendency to backup and ruin the basement carpet and walls, etc. and we had to pull the carpet out. I would like to refinish the basement to get our property value back but I need to get rid of the water problem first. How can I plug this drain safely to refinish my basement? Someone suggested a sump pump, but the drain is in the middle of the room. It is at the connection between two drains, one from the kitchen and one from the basement bathroom, which are in separate directions. Do you have any suggestions?
