I'm assuming you have an alcove bath with an integral front apron.

You can determine the required support height by setting the tub on the floor, and with the tub resting on the front apron, lifting the rear side until the tub is level front-to-back (determined with a carpenter's level on the tub). Then measure the height to the bottom of the surface at the rear of the tub that will rest on the horizontal support.

You can wrap fiberglass insulation around the basin of the tub before installation.

: Thanks for reading my question.

: I am remodeling the bathroom in our home.
: We are reusing a American Standard cast iron bathtub.
: We will soon be reinstalling the tub in to its spot.
: The tub will need to be leveled using 2X4's.
: How do you find out the proper height for the supports?
: Also, is there a way of insulating the tub to hold heat more efficiently?

: Thanks again,
