You may have something grounded to the hot water piping. Since the heater is usually isolated with di-electric unions the water and water heater become the electric path. If this could be the case, I usually install a jumper wire between the water lines to bypass the heater. : This is the third or fourth water heater we have gone through in about 4 years. I just pulled the anode rod out after only 6 months and it is totally rotted through. What causes this and what can we do to stop this. Thanks.
