Ticking sound on kitchen ceiling

Hello,

We moved in a newly built tract home in July 2000. A month later, we noticed that when we turn on the hot water faucet in upstairs bathroom, a "tick", "tick", "tick" noise occurs the kitchen ceiling. It sounds like something is leaking. Can you please advise on this leaking sound?
