It could be a bad element or a loose wire. You will not know which until you remove the cover and look at it.
: COULD YOU POSSABLE GIVE ME AN IDEA WHY A WATER HEATER WOULD HAVE A FIRE AT THE BOTTOM ELEMENT COVER AND LOWER WIRING? WOULD THIS BE A SURGE? LOOSE WIRE? BAD ELEMENT? THE WATER HEATER IS JUST OVER 5YRS OLD BRADFORD WHITE MOD# M-180R5DF13 I KNOW THIS WILL BE HARD TO TELL WITH OUT SEEING THIS UNIT JUST WANTED AN IDEA WHERE TO LOOK THANKS. BOB SHERRY
