most bomb-proof shower install?

I am installing a tiled shower in my home and my biggest worry is making it a lifetime no-leak installation. I do not want to ever have to replace it or the framing. The shower has a built in shelf, and I am worried that this is where the installation will be most vulnerable. As of now, I am using the "Tile Redi" shower pan, "DensShield", as the backer material, and sealing the seams with Mapei 315 trowel on membrane. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
