Ken: The terra cotta pipe can be cut easily with a skil saw with a masonry blade or if you have access to a pair of chain snaps that's even easier. Replace the clean out with a PVC one, and make the transition from clay pipe to PVC with a Fernco rubber coupling from the Home Depot. Lotsa luck ...Jose outside my house where the waste pipe and the sewage line from the basement meet i have a broken clean out. the clean out is made of terra cotta. i need to know first,how to break the terra cotta without it breaking further down the line. and second , can i use pvc for a new clean out system, and how do i connect the two together. thanks a bunch.
