I recently had the hot water tank in my apartment replaced. For a few hours all the water in my
apartment, whether in the bathroom or the kitchen, smelled like some kind of soldering product.
I was told by the company that replaced my tank that the solder is completely safe and that the
smell would go away if I ran the taps for a few minutes. I ran the water and the smell is gone, but
I'm still not convinced about the safety of my water. Is the solder used in plumbing safe? I live in Canada,
and I have no idea whether we have laws banning the use of lead solder here.
