The pilot light only operates when the heat should be on. If there is an electrical problem preventing the gas valve from operating then the pilot light will not come on. Have Maytag service it. : Does my Maytag Gas Dryer have a pilot light? : I am not getting any heat when i start it & : when i looked into the front bottom opening i did not see any pilot light lit. It also seems that when i do stert it it does spin (cold) : and the timer is not to be working.
