Removing & Purging Low Pressure Home Heating Lines

I purchasing a home with a low pressure boiler which heats the home. I need to take out a small radiator from the kitchen do to some remodeling work. Everything is 3/4 copper, so I'm not worried about removing it, but I need to know how best to purge the system. Questions: How often should the lines/system be cleaned? Is an anticorrosive used to keep the system in check? How best to purge out the air introduced when I remove the heat exchanger?
