I wish to put the trap for the washer under floor in the crawl space. The question is whether the approximately 4 foot vertical drop to the trap will create too much velocity causing siphoning. The trap is 2" and the vent is 1 and 1/2". If so, would a 90 sweep elbow about a foot before the trap slow the water enough? (Immediately after the trap would be a sanitary tee on the horizontal allowing for the vent to connect in and the drain continues about 5 or 6 feet on the horizontal over to drop into the 4" main stack. I know most jurisdictions require the trap to be above floor-although I don't know the reason-but my jurisdiction allows the trap to be under floor. My only concern here is whether too much velocity in this situation would cause the trap to not function properly.)
