: : I have a basement bath which works great by itself. Problem is that the washing machine on the first floor sucks the traps dry when it pumps out. Is there a device that I can place in the washer drain line to prevent this, or should I rework the vent system? : Is the washing machine on the first floor tied into the vent for the bath inthe basement? The washing machine drains into a 2" line which y's into a 3" line coming from a first-floor toilet. The 3" line is vented about 10' upstream from where the 2" line joins. The basement bath is downstream from where the 2" line joins.
