outside faucet leaks in wall when turned open

I have a garden faucet that started leaking into the wall if I turn it on (we had a few freezing nights lately). If the faucet is closed, no leaking occurs. How is that possible? Does it needurgent attention? The faucet's brand is ABP USA and has a flange with 2 screwholes in the front. Can I screw this of and replace it? Thanks
