In response to Re: Bewildered home owner - (Internal sewer vents) ??
: I have just found out that my remodler that remodeled our bathroom and kitchen is using some sort of internal sewer vent that is piped up in the cabinets and/or vanity. Not that we are having problems or odors, but my understanding is that they should be plumbed out the roof. Can someone with some plumbing knowledge please shed some insight on this strange configuration ????

: Help
Sounds like a mechanical in-line vent. If the bathroom is being remodeled (it is not additional bathroom)you should vent through the roof. The old vent should be there already. If you omit this vent you might not have enough cross sectional area(vent) to vent the sewer line. The cross section of the vent(s) should at least equal the main sewer line.
