A loop vent is a means of venting an island sink. There are three different ways to do it, but your inspector may only like one particular version so you should check before installing it to see how they want it done. If by "inline vent" you mean an air admittance valve, they will work if approved in your area.
: I came across a reference to an in-line vent that might be able to be used in place of a full loop vent. I know what a loop vent is (I had planned on putting one in), but do not know what an in-line vent is. Question: what is an in-line vent?
