|In response to Re: placement of toilet flange|
: I am planning on putting in a ceramic tile floor during a bathroom remodel. My dilemma is not knowing whether the toilet flange should be attached to the subfloor and then tile around it, or if the tiling should be done first and then the flange put in on top of the tile. I asked the guy at the tile store, but he didn't have a clue what a toilet flange was, which makes me very nervous.
: Thanks for your help.
If the finished floor height will not be more than 1/2" above the subfloor then screw the flange to the subfloor. If the finished floor will be more than 1/2" above the subfloor then shim up the flange. Either way it is advisable to have the flange installed before the finished floor goes down.
