I have a leak at the sprinkler system. I shut the backflow off and the leak stops, but water still flows upon demand in the house. Doesn't the backflow shut all water off to the house? We are on the county water system and they sent me a letter stating I used 19,000 gallons of water between meter readings. Is it possible the backflow device is not connected properly to the water supply system if my house is still receiving water? I don't use the sprinkler system and have no intention of ever using it again, Should I bypass it all together?
