Certain types of green marble (especially those from Asia) have a tendency to "curl" when they get wet (which is always, during the setting process). Usually marble producers and fabricators recommend epoxy as the bonding agent. But a 2 in. wide strip should give you any problems. The curling probably won't be noticed, and grout will hold the pieces in if your adhesive fails.
What is the substrate for your shower? Cement backer?
