HM: Some of the newer heaters have check valves in both hot and cold connection ports.
This is designed to keep the hot water from leaving the heater unless a valve in the hot water line is opened. These devices rely on marbles inside hot and cold connector nipples
to do the sealing, some say they rattle quite loudly at times.
There have been some complaints about noises
associated with them. If you are on good terms with your neighbor(with the new water Heater)
ask him if you could put your ear to his heater
while someone draws some water,
