Unless it is already preassembled, and even then it is not a problem, the inlet on gas logs can be on either side. In fact most fireplaces seem to have the inlet on the right side and I have never seen a log set that HAD to be connected on the left side. It is not a good idea to extend the gas line through the fire chamber but if you really have to do it, run it as far from the log set as possible.
: We bought a vent free gas log set. Our fireplace has a Natural gas starter and shut off valve already instlled. The gas black pipe for the gas strter enters our fireplace firebox from the right hand side. The gas log set has the gas input on the left hand side. Can we extend the black pipe with an additonal length of black pipe to the left hand side and make our connection to the gas log set?
