In response to Re: cast iron sewer clean-out stuck
: : how to remove rusted 4 inch mainline sewer clean-out plug running through concrete wall.

: Rob,
: I presume these cleanout plugs are brass. If so, use a hammer and chisel and start at the square part of the plug and cut out the center. Then put the chisel near the threads and aim toward the center. The brass is soft and will warp toward the center, effectively making the plug a little smaller and soon the plug can be turned counter-clockwise and removed. Of course, you have ruined the plugs but you can easily replace them with PVC plugs. Use teflon pipe lubricant on the threads and they will come out easily next time. One word of caution...MEASURE the old plugs carefully because many of the 4" cast-iron cleanouts have 3-1/2" plugs in them.
: Good luck,
: Charles

Thanks Charles,
It is brass. Thanks for your help. Should be a piece of cake. chocolate
