however, i have not had the fatigue because we have been in our new home for only a few days. the black flies are what tipped me off to the fact that something -- other than the sewer smell in the basement -- was not right. i had never seen this type of fly before and they were more prevalent in the basement than anywhere else in the house. the major difference is that when i look down the floor drain in the laundry room i can see water. it is not a 'dry' drain. (we haven't tried to dump water down it.) if we plug it, as you suggested to moore, will it solve the problem? or is there another problem, here?
