I have never heard of anyone doing it, but I would assume it would either have to be similar to electric transformer oil or something used in explosion proof motors, since it would have to be non-conductive. : I bought a new house last year. The previous owner said that I should check the sump pump oil level. : I opened it up the sump pump hole today. A lovely sight I might add! The pump was dry or had no : oil level that I could see. It is a Hydr-O-Matic model SP-40. I had oil from the proevious owner but : not enough to fill the motor. Does anyone know where I can find out what weight of oil to use for this : sump pump
