the distance from the gas meter to the heater is the important one, not the distance from the basement. Without knowing the total distance, I would say that you need 3/4 inch pipe, at least. : I am installing a garage heater (natural gas). It puts out 60,000 BTU's. The gas line will have to run about : 25 to 30 feet from the basement of the house to the attached garage and up to the overhead heater. : Can I use 1/2 inch black pipe or do I need to go to 3/4 inch ?
