The Electric Utility folks speak with a forked toungue. Gas has always been a far more economical means to heat almost anything. The only exception to this may be if your using LPG in some remote area, and delivery costs make it un-competitive.
Do yourself a big favor...Get the whole picture on costs in savings over the life of both heaters...you won't beleive the bottom line.
Electric Utilities are stuck with the fact that they have to deliver their product on demand.
This means they must have the generating capacity to deliver the goods during peak load times. It is in their best interest to sell you on the idea of heating your water at night(off peak hours), and storing it for use during the day. Sounds like a much better deal for the Power Company than for you...Lots of luck..Bud.
