basement bathroom

Thinking of installing a bathroom in my basement. I've heard conflicting reports. Will I be sorry I did- i.e. smell, function,other troubles? Are there "flush up" toilets or do I need a pump/grinder. Don't want to dig hole in concrete so build up floor? Looking for some guidance. Thanks!
