|In response to Re: RE: Drain line length/bypass broken Wye|
: Terry, would it be possible for me to bypass the drain waste line in the basement floor by running it in the basement ceiling. Basically, the lines that service the sink, shower and toilet drop from 1st floor bathroom down to floor level. Couldn't I pitch a new 4 inch line starting under the floor joists running approx 22' straight, then turning 90 degrees with sweep bends then over approx 8 feet to the main stack? This would in my mind bypass the broken wye in the floor.
Just keep the pitch at least 2%. Thats 1/4" per foot and use long sweep bends. You should have no more than 135 degrees of directional change without a cleanout.
