Natural gas flex connection

I want to replace my existing gas flex line to my kitchen stove. The original flex line and the new one has warnings about using the new "fittings" supplied with the new connector kit. In my case, the original installatiion has a 3/4 inch pipe with a right angle shut off valve with a "tapered" output side directly connected to the flex line. Am I supposed to put gas pipe thread compound on the output side of the valve and put the new adapter on this side which now means I have a taper inside the new " adapter"? Please outline the correct procedure. Thanks, Jack
