If he wants to bypass the septic tank and feed the water directly into the field, then it is a bad idea. The soap in the water will coat the effluent pipes and eventually prevent the water from soaking into the ground. Then you will have to make a new field or cesspool depending on the system you have. : We are on well and septic. I am remodeling my laundry room, and the guy I'm working with is suggesting we do a bypass from the washing machine that feeds the gray water directly into the clean out access in the wall (there's already a hole there). : Is it a good idea with a septic? I use a lint filter over the washer hose now, and you can't do that with a bypass.
