Type of Pipe for new Supply Line?

I'm replacing (and re-routing) the supply line from my well to my house. The distance is about 75 feet and the soil is very rocky. The new line will be connected to an interior 1-inch copper supply line which leads to the pressure tank. The old supply line was poly, and developed a leak. Can someone recommend the best option for a new 1-inch exterior supply line? Don't really want galvanized, and I'm a little gun shy about any sort of flexible vinyl pipe. I've heard both pros and cons about copper and PVC. Also, can concerns about rocks be handled by surrounding the pipe with sand or pea gravel? Thanks for your help.
