Steve: By installing a captive air storage tank, you can forget about the water logging problem and the nuisence of draining down the waterlogged tank forever.
If your pump is not a submersible type, you can install a AVC (Air Volume Control) in the suction line to the pump. Everytime the pump cycles on a small amount of air is injested into the water system and should maintain the needed air balast in your existing tank with no further waterlogging.
Lots of luck....Bud

I am confused. The instructions on my well tank says to:

: 1. Shut off the power to the well.
: 2. Shut off the valve that supplies the house with water from the tank.
: 3. Drain all of the water out of the tank.
: 4. Fill the tank with air (to 30psi).
: 5. Turn on the power to the well.
: 6. Open the value that supplies the house with water from the tank.

: In the past I have done all but step 4.

: (NOTE: I am doing this to address a waterlogged tank issue that is causing the pump to cycle too often. In my last home I did this annually.)

: Two questions:
: 1. What is the right way to drain and refill the tank?
: 2. How often should I need to do this?
