You have gotten ahead of yourself. The pan should go behind the wallboard so that it will catch any leak that occurs. If it is between the tile and the wallboard, water leaking through the grout, for example, will be able to flow between the pan and the wallboard, since you will never make a perfect long term seal between the pan and the wallboard.
: I HAVE A SHOWER THAT IS NOT STANDARD SIZE AND THEREFORE I CAN NOT USE AN INSERT, I HAVE REDONE ALL OF THE WALL BOARD , BUT I AM NOW AT A STAND STILL I AM, NOT SURE HOW TO DO THE SHOWER PAN
