The toilet and the septic system are designed to handle food that has been preprocessed by the human body. Uses outside of this are a bad idea. People do allow garbage to go to a septic system after it has been through a garbage disposal, though some feel even this is not good for residential septic systems. : My husband insists on flushing old food and food scraps down the toilet. Can this damage the septic system? Please advise. Thanks

People do allow garbage to go to a septic system *after* it has been through a garbage disposal, though some feel even this is not good for residential septic systems.
