: Why is that the type of toilets used in public restrooms...the type with no tank that are wall hung...are not used in homes? It seems they would be more efficient, require less maintenance and be easier to clean around and under.
They would require less maintenance if they were used in a home because there's only three to eight people daily use in the home, The public commercial installations receive three to eight person per ten minute usage, and use a two inch supply, and a six inch drain waste vent line - much too costly for residential installation. The spring loaded tankless flush toilets are not maintenance free, either. Public restrooms require a full time maintenance person (OR LICENSED CONTRACTOR ) to maintain these toilets, flush valves, springs, diaphragms, and piping.
