The 15" is the measurement to either side of the opening. 11 1/2" is usually enough to the back of the opening. : Due to shortness of funds I am finishing up the addition to my house myself. When I measure the distances from the sheetrock to the center of the toilet drain it comes to 11.5 inches. The books I have looked at said it should be at least 15 inches. I don't want to do the tiling until I know I won't have trouble fitting the toilet in. is 11.5 inches, minus the thickness of wall tile enough room to put a toilet in?
