: : We are having problems with the City of Cedar Rapids Housing Rehabilitation Program. : : Had a plumber work on our sewer line in our basement. : : Inspector found that join does not make proper seal and could possibly leak sewer gas. : : They said if we smell sewer gas call them. This was 2 months ago. : : Is this something that should be fixed immediately? : Laurie, Do you know where the inspector said the odor was coming from? If its a crack in the fitting, you can slap some putty on it to keep the gasses from escaping, or put a towel over it and keep it wet to close the area from the gasses getting into the air, temporarily, or dump a bucket of wet cement on top of it till the rehabilitation folks can get there. |
