|In response to Re: Jet pump vs submersible|
: I have an 80ft well with a very old jet pump that still works but does not deliver the GPM I would like. Should I consider a submersible pump or just get a bigger jet pump? Which lasts longer?
A very old jet pump uses a stainless steel impeller a new (less expensive) one uses plastic. If the well is only 80 feet deep, you might be running out of water in this drought. A submersible pump of standard size will deliver a standard 10 gallons per minute, and the fixture probably uses 3. Are you SURE its the pump? Look at the pressure tank, expansion tank, air diaphragm, pipe interior, and fixture filters.
