Your lower element may be burned out and/or the lower thermostat may be stuck so it does not turn off. A bad element can damage the thermostat, so you have to check everything. : I very often (almost every other day) have to reset the top thermostat in order to have hot water. I have replaced the thermostat but the same problem occurs. I have plenty of hot water when it is operating, but the reset button constantly is tripping off. What could be the problem?
