Make sure that the cover and all the openings are bolted down securely and caulk around the rim of the cover and around the openings if they do not have rubber gaskets under them..

: HELP! The sewage ejector pump is smelling up my entire basement, even with both doors to the bathroom closed. This is a 1999 home so I don't think the septic tank needs to be serviced. The previous owner was hardly home and rarely used the basement bathroom, so therefore we never noticed a strong odor on inspection of the home. About 2 days after moving in and regular use of the basement bathroom the odor became very strong. The ejector is working, it kicks on after the toilet flushes. Please email me back and tell me how to solve this problem.
