Gene:--Copper is the traditional material of choice for long lasting trouble free service.
It is not prone to damage from gnawing critters that by visit with you from time to time.It has dimensional stability lacking in sustitutes. It has a far superior batting average than many of the wannabe offerings that have come on the market in the last 20 years. Copper does need a level playing field to deliver its' full potential. Electrolytic corrosion has caused some problems in different parts of the Country, but is easily remedied by use of a simple sacrificial anode device connected into the plumbing loop.
Copper piping properly installed and maintained can and should give at least two lifetimes of service. Lots of luck with your project....Bud
